La Cicer
Level: beginner to expert Tide: low – mid- high Crowd: high Board type: longboard, shortboard Forecast: https://es.surf-forecast.com/breaks/La-Cicer/forecasts/latest/six_day
La Cicer is a collection of different breaks at the SW end of las Canteras beach, which is the main beach of Las Palmas.
Swell here is very consistent and the sandy bottom makes it an ideal place for beginners and surf schools. Depending on ther strength of the swell, La Cicer can go from beginner to expert level. It's accessibility and the fact that it's located right in Las Palmas main beach attracts big crowds, but it´s not known for being an unfriendly place.
All the way to the SW tip there's a point break called Los Muellitos, which tends to produce a wave suitable for long-boarders. Best to surf in mid to low tide.
From there to the East, there's a series of beach breaks. Waves here break in all directions and are prone to close outs, but the reliablity and the consistency of the swell make up for it. Best to surf in mid to high tide.
Summer can have flat periods, but there is swell all year long.
El Lloret
Level: advanced - expert Tide: low – mid Crowd: high Board type: shortboard Forecast: https://es.surf-forecast.com/breaks/El-Lloret/forecasts/latest/six_day
This point break produces a beautiful, powerful right hand wave suitable for shortboards that is very cherished by the locals. Going in and out is tricky because of the rocks and currents, and it's only surfable during mid – low tide. Doesn´t work with small swells, as there are many rocks sticking out near the shore and needs to be big enough for the wave to break further back.
The locals are very protective of this spot, so go only if you're sure you have the level required and be mindful and respectful.
La Barra
Level: advanced - expert Tide: high Crowd: mid Board type: shortboard Forecast: https://es.surf-forecast.com/breaks/La-Barra/forecasts/latest/six_day
La Barra is a reef covering two thirds of Las Canteras beach. When the tide is high, the reef is under water and produces a series of short waves suitable for bodyboards and shortboards.
It can break in many different spots depending of the direction and size of the swell, so take a look oatwhere the locals are.
Confital
Level: expert Tide: high Crowd: mid – high Board type: shortboard Forecast: https://www.surf-forecast.com/breaks/Confital/forecasts/latest/six_day
Possibly the most famous and best wave in the island, Confital is a fast, hollow, barreling wave, considered one of the best in Europe. The downside? Localism is really bad, so it´s not recommended to go there unless you're really good at surfing and you know the local crowd.
The wave is shallow and breaks over a rock slab, so it can be only surfed at high tide. It's the only wave in the north of Gran Canaria that can get offshore winds when it blows from the N – NE.
